Rotating Equipment: Fin Fan Repairs

Many process plants experience reduced fin fan performance and other common challenges. The inability to achieve unit condensing can result in decreased unit capacity. While various factors contribute to production losses, don’t let a malfunctioning fan be the culprit. HRI technicians under lockout tagout procedures, can safely enter fan shrouds in temperatures ranging from 125°F to 500°F to conduct repairs. These include blade replacement, pitch verification, re-pitch, grease line repair, and hub, bearing, and shaft replacement. Utilizing HRI’s Heat Safe System eliminates the need for additional air coolers. Incorporating HRI into a scheduled preventive maintenance program enables clients to remove fin fan work from turnaround schedules, reducing resource requirements and work area congestion during future turnaround events.
